Oliver at 8

Hmmm!
Autumn, 2000

At 8 years Oliver can -

  • install his own CD-roms onto the computer
  • adjust monitor/display settings if required to help software to run
  • attempt to put on some clothes himself
  • enjoy dressing-up games
  • remember dates and events of significance to him e.g. theatre trips, holidays, birthdays
  • display some hand/eye co-ordination.  He will now track a large ball and try to hit it using a tennis racket.
  • appreciate that different things happen during different times of the day
  • listen to story tapes and follow the words in the books
  • visit new places with less anxiety when given advanced warning and explanation
  • follow simple step-by-step instructions to order to draw a picture.  The picture of Winnie the Pooh in Oliver’s Art Gallery is an example of this.
  • help Mum in the kitchen and will taste the things he has made
