Oliver at 10 years

Oliver at 10 years
July, 2002

At 10 years Oliver can -

  • choose in advance, some things that he will do during the day, e.g. state which video he will watch after dinner.
  • he can help in the kitchen and enjoys trying to weigh and measure the ingredients.  Oliver is willing to try something new to eat when he has made it himself.
  • greet strangers at Disneyland Paris with 'bonjour!'
  • follow routes on the London Underground.  He will give a running commentary of the stations he passes and connections to other lines.  Some Senior Citizens have thanked him for providing a useful service!
  • enjoy going to the theatre.  He will sit and watch sensibly and join in where appropriate.
  • go on the water slides at the swimming pool.  Oliver does not tire at this activity and would happily stay on this activity all day.  The water slide is one occasion where he does not make a fuss when he goes under the water or gets his hair wet.
  • play marbles and will often hit the 'target'.
  • recite simple poems and rhymes by memory.

The 1 and only 1

  • remember a few steps of a simple dance routine and keeps good time with the music.
  • sing a few songs using the karaoke machine.  This is also helping with his reading.
  • enjoy a short bedtime story.  He especially likes the Mr Men books (by Roger Hargreaves) and remembers many of the characters.
