This page is a 'progress report' on Oliver's development in the last 12 months to August 2006.
At 14 years -
Oliver can sing some of his favourite songs into a microphone. He will listen to the original versions and try to sing in 'character voices.' Listen to Oliver singing on his Karaoke Time! page.
Oliver is much more confident with his pony riding. He can dismount without worrying about falling or getting pony hairs on his clothes (but every hair has to be taken off after his lesson). This year, Oliver has taken part in his first dressage competition and gained Fourth Place.
Oliver was chosen to represent his city in the Disability Gymnastics Team at the Youth Games 2006. He had to remember a short floor routine and complete two different vaults. Oliver competed willingly and enthusiastically, in a huge venue in front of a large audience. He punched the air with pride after his last vault and was thrilled to receive his Runners-Up trophy.
"I was in the gymnastics team with four boys. In June we went to the Youth Games. I did the floor routine, the springboard vault and the bench vault. I was great. There were lots of people watching and they gave me a big clap. At the end my team was a winner. We all got a medal on a trophy. It was a gold medal, it said Runners-Up. I was very happy."
Oliver can assemble and trim video clips using the computer. He prefers to keep clips in the order in which they were filmed, but will 'sort' clips into themes. Oliver can use the software tools to insert captions, background music and credits but does not have his own 'creative ideas' for these.
During our family holiday at Disneyland, Oliver enjoyed 'acting' in our home movie. Back home, he had great fun editing the footage using Windows Movie Maker 2. Oliver is very proud to present his short film: Follow Me. Click below to watch the film.
