World Pairs Kurling Championships

On Saturday 4th May, Oliver and Dad competed at the New Age Kurling World (Pairs) Championships.  The Kurling Championships were held over two days at The Dolphin Leisure Centre, Darlington and were hosted by the Great Britain Kurling Association (GBKA), the UK's National Governing Body for kurling.

Oliver and Dad played well against their highly competitive opponents and, after the round-robin stage, progressed to finish in the last 16.

On Saturday 26th May, Oliver and Dad competed at the New Age Kurling World (Pairs) Championships.  The Kurling Championships were held over two days at the Kingsway Leisure Centre, Widnes.  The Championships were hosted by the Great Britain Kurling Association (GBKA), the UK's National Governing Body for kurling.

Oliver and Dad first played in round-robin groups, where they were undefeated in every one of their games.  Oliver and Dad made it through to the quarter-finals in the Consolation Competition and maintained their World Pairs ranking in the top 100.

On Saturday 29th April, Oliver competed at the New Age Kurling World (Pairs) Championships.  The Kurling Championships were held over two days at the Kingsway Leisure Centre, Widnes.  The Championships were hosted by the Great Britain Kurling Association (GBKA), the UK's National Governing Body for kurling.  Disabled and non-disabled athletes competed against each other on equal terms.

Oliver took part in this international Competition with his Dad, Steve.  They first played in round-robin groups, progressing on to compete in the Consolation Competition where Oliver and Steve made it through to the quarter-finals.  Oliver played amazingly well throughout the competition and displayed great sportsmanship.  Oliver and Steve gained a World Pairs ranking in the top 100.

Level 2 Individual - GOLD

Oliver was undefeated in his group games and won gold in his division.  Oliver was the highest scoring player of the competition.

New Age Kurling British Singles Championships

Quarter-finals (Consolation event)

Oliver played some superb shots in his group games and beat two nationally ranked players.  In the afternoon session, Oliver progressed to the Quarter Final stages where he was defeated by the current World Champion.

Oliver was one of twenty-five athletes who represented his county at the Special Olympics National Kurling Competition.

Oliver, triple gold medalist

Oliver competed at the Regional Championships for the third year running.  He won the top level Individual event and the Pairs event with his partner, Daniel.  Oliver partnered a Level 2 player from another club whose own partner was ill, to win his third gold medal of the day.  Oliver also entertained the crowd at the Awards Ceremony, performing on the keyboard.

On Sunday 1st May, Oliver competed at the New Age Kurling World (Pairs) Championships.  The Kurling Championships were held over two days at Kingsway Leisure Centre, Widnes.  The Championships were hosted by the Great Britain Kurling Association (GBKA), the UK's National Governing Body for kurling where disabled and able-bodied athletes competed on equal terms.

Oliver took part in his first international Competition with his Dad, Steve.  They first played in round-robin groups and were lucky enough to progress on to compete in the knockout stages.  Oliver and Steve narrowly missed reaching the final 16 by a nail-biting tiebreak.

Oliver also helped with scoring and assisting the Umpires during play.  He thoroughly enjoyed the day and is looking forward to his next kurling event.
